Looking after your vehicle
Insurance
Cars, caravans, and motorhomes
You must have fully comprehensive insurance cover on the vehicle. The policy should cover the full amount of finance on your vehicle.
Motorcycles
If you have a motorcycle, you can insure it with third party, fire, and theft cover. With this type of insurance, if you crash or damage your motorcycle and it’s your fault, you must pay for the repairs yourself. If your motorbike is stolen, or involved in a fire, your policy should cover this.

Maintaining your vehicle
You must look after your vehicle and keep it running well.
You must:
- Make sure it’s in good condition and repair for its age and mileage, at your own expense
- Service it in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines, or any warranty
- Check your tyre pressures and tread depths regularly and keep an eye on and top up fluid levels.
Keep your service records with the vehicle and keep the registration document up to date.
You should contact the dealership for any recall work or warranty repairs.
