International North West 200 Race Director Mervyn Whyte MBE has today confirmed that the 2010 event will take place on Saturday 15th May.

During the past few months Whyte had been consulting with organisers of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in association with Pirelli, to ensure that North West 200 Race Week did not clash with any BSB events and is delighted that a date has now been finalised.

Explained Mervyn Whyte, “MSVR, the commercial and organisational rights holder of the BSB programme had to make a number of changes to the 2010 calendar and, until they were in place, we were not in a position to confirm the date of the North West 200. We’re extremely pleased that we can run with our preferred date of May 15th which allows competitors a clear week after the May Bank Holiday race at Oulton Park (1st – 3rd May). Following the North West 200 the next round of the MCE Insurance BSB Championship will take place at the popular Cadwell Park circuit in Lincolnshire from 21st to 23rd May.”

Next year’s North West 200 will be officially launched at the Belfast Waterfront Hall on Tuesday 12th January.
